Tasks:
Substantive editing, copyediting

Our job

Note: this job came to us in final proofs. Although originally intended for a Fresh Eye, it soon became apparent that the book needed a total copyedit performed within Fresh Eye parameters. Substantively edit the front part of this manual for teachers so that the text flows smoothly into the hands-on student activities that follow. (The writer's words remained substantially untouched, but much reorganization was necessary.) We also edited the second half, the activities themselves; when possible, we performed experiments to make certain they work. The last step called for a real Fresh Eye on page proofs to make certain that the illustrations, which we now saw for the first time, and the text all come together smoothly.
