Our job

Help turn this book, originally intended for medical students, into a work of interest to anyone concerned with his or her own health, in particular, and with health care reform, in general. It is written from the perspective of a physician and educator suddenly confronted with a serious illness and thrust into the role of a patient. As a result, his perspective on our health care system changes dramatically. The book is dedicated to a colleague who, after practicing medicine for 67 years, held that "people are losing their faith in doctors and medicine, and something must be done."
