Our job

Develop position papers on topics for which there was little statistical information. To supplement this information, SSR went to psychologists, the FBI, and prominent think tanks (e.g., the Anti-Defamation League, Southern Poverty Law Center, National Council of La Raza, and the Leadership Council on Civil Rights). The position papers remain so pertinent to hate crimes in particular and violence in general that they are still available years after initial publication in 1998 and are among the most accessed items on APA's Web site, which gets a million hits a week. (The first distribution of Hate Crimes was so critical to a debate on the Hill that copies were delivered to representatives and senators in page proof form.)
